i'd just like to tell everyone in the us (and world), "happy thanksgiving!".
in many ways, the posters here understand me better than anyone else on this planet.
you all have helped me tremendously.
Thank you Skeeter.....now pass me the sweet potatoes !
If you look under the religious section on roku, every decent sized religion has a channel.
Maybe it time for an All Apostate....All The Time- channel on Roku.
I can overlook a post that has an occasional spelling or puncuation error but it just frosts me when they are accompanied by a tone of selfsatisfication. (wink)
now i know they have always discouraged marrying outside of their so called 'truth' but since when has it been a punishable offense?
my sister recently married and they are discussing wether her being married to an outsider will stumble others and if they need to reprove or disfellowship her for it..
At the Zone meeting Tight Pants Tony advised young Sisters from even marrying a Baptized JW Brother if he wasn't a Ministerial Servant yet. You can only imagine what he would have to say about her marrying a Non JW.
The only case I knew of didn't result in the Bride being reproved in any way but the Sisters who were asked to be Brides Maids were threatened with reproof if they stood in the wedding and so were those in the congregation who were planning to attend.
Millions Now Frozen Will Never Thaw.
wanted to say hello to you all.
i am new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself.
i was raised a witness, never baptized (yay) and am married to a lovely baptized witness of jehovah.. i had been trying to get back into it due to both our families being j dbs but just never could get it into my heart.
My wife is pregnant and it due is June and thinking of raising a child as a JW sickens me. Tough road ahead.
One of the things that started me on the scary road of waking up is when (like myself) my 5 year old did his fist Bible Reading in the Ministry School. I suddenly realized that I was alowing my Son to be programmed the same way I had been.
Don't panic like I did...it's all a huge joke and is only as significant as you allow it to be.
had a coversation with a very close friend (of 15 years) and understands how i feel about the wt org.
he himself is a serious doubter.
i on the other hand am not a doubter, i know with every living ounce of myself that this is a cult!
The whole purpose behind the many meetings assemblies and repetative talks is to keep you from listening to your own inner sense. The Kingdom Hall is full of people who are, one missed meeting away from realizing there are holes in the premise of the religion they've built thier lives around. It is my firm belief that no matter how much some deny it, most JW's know deep down that there is no "New System" there was nothing special about "1914",there is no literal "FDS" and it's very likely that they will grow old and die one day. Despite this (and most of us were guilty of it ourselves) they are quite prepared to shun anyone who tries to point out the holes in their belief system. The cognative dissonance they suffer from allows them to rationalize that even if it's not true, it's a good way of life. They are taught to believe that thier "doubts" are caused by Satan.
The best thing to do is to fade away and explain nothing to anyone ...no excuses, explainations or justifications. Keep them in the dark and absolutely don't argue or try to persuade anyone...draw no lines in the sand. You can't win....just get yourself out and let the chips fall where they may as far as the JW's are concerned.
every year on a certain thursday in november my family and close witness friends would get together, eat menudo ( hispanic stew) and other foods, watch football and then get dressed to go to the meeting.. sister so and so would bring her famous pie, bro and sister so and so would bring their gross punch and bro and sis so and so would bring mexican sweet bread.
sometimes we would go to "worldy" aunt's and pick up plates of turkey and fixins.. this was every year on a certain date, on a certain thursday in november.. this continued until my mom got alzheimers.
by that time i was married and had my own house.
There's a "don't ask...don't tell" syndrome that is common among JW's. So long as you don't say anthing outloud....draw any lines in the sand, you can get by doing pretty much whatever you want. You can have a dinner on Thanksgiving (most jw's do) and no one bats an eye but as soon as you're honest with them and call it what it is, the game's over. They want to be lied to....they want their ears tickled and they get pretty virtuous when you don't play along.
it looks as if the gb are blundering around and really showing themselves up for the buffoons they are.
all the stupidity about tight trousers is laughable and if the general public were to see these selfmportant cult leaders blabbing this stuff then the last shred of their credibility would be destroyed.........perhaps.. the wbt$ seem to have dug themselves into a deep pit of no escape with their lies, new light(tm), paedophile protection and all the other nauseating peripherals they have.. we also suspect that the wbt$ have their spies here because they are either predictable or get ideas form forums like this.. so!
are you listening watchtower(r)?
Admit they are and always have been only ordinary men, guessing at what the Bible really says.
Stop trying to intervene in peoples personal relationship with God .
Apologize to those members and former members who's families have been destroyed by thier blunders and stop trying to be God's policemen, enforcing their interpretation of God's will, in peoples personal lives.
Give a regular detailed honest accounting of how donations are spent.
Stop saying that "We don't serve with a date in mind" and "no one know the day and hour" while at the same time saying the "end" is soooo close.
Do more to help people improve their lives now in a real and tangible way rather that promoting the idea that the more they do to promote their agenda, the better their lives will be.
